[PAGE 01]
A colored convention assembled at Pulaski on the 13th inst., whereat were any number of "citizens" under the civil rights bill, and the result was a series of highfalutin "resolutions" lauding Brownlow and others of his kidney for the good works rendered in behalf of the colored race, etc., etc.

The suffering at Chattanooga has been greatly exaggerated, as the following letter will show:

CHATTANOOGA, TENN., March 20.
To Brev. Maj. Gen. Wm. P. Carlin, Ass't Com. Bureau R. F. and A. L.: :

Your dispatch of the 16th inst. has just been received. The suffering has been greatly exaggerated. Destitutes are being relieved by the relief association, from provisions made by the city, and contributions from Atlanta and elsewhere. Cannot draw from the commissary now. Maj. Kline, commanding post, hourly expects one hundred thousand rations by steamboat from Louisville, Ky. No one is suffering for provisions.

(Signed) M. H. CHURCH, Brev. Lieut. Col., Sub. Ass't Com.
