[PAGE 01]
A convention of colored men was held at Little Rock, Ark., on the 12th, to consider the subject of emigrating from Arkansas, where it is claimed the colored men in many localities are not allowed the free enjoyment of their constitutional rights. Delegates were chosen to the Conference to be held at Nashville, May 6, and the Convention resolved itself into an Auxiliary State Migration Aid Society, and appointed to an Executive Committee.

Cyrus W. Field has accepted the Presidency of the of the Wabash Railway Company, on condition that as soon as he could find a thoroughly practical and reliable railway man to take his place he could resign, and in the meantime would serve the company without charge.
